Does a .NET Development Tool Need a WinForms Designer?

The answer might seem obvious, but apparently CodeGear has a different view, as Delphi product Manager Nick Hodges just announced that the upcoming and long awaited Delphi ‘Highlander’ for .NET 2.0 will not provide support for WinForms (nor apparently support for C#, as the C#Builder personality is being discontinued as well).

I would expect this to come as quite a shock for anyone doing (or planning to do) serious .NET development using CodeGear’s tools, and it almost looks as if CodeGear wants to kindly ask its customers to move their .NET development to Visual Studio.
