Teaser: Oxygene in Visual Studio 11
October 2, 2011 in Metro, Oxygene, Prism, ROFX, Visual Studio, Windows
We have so many projects going on right now, it’s not even funny. In addition to just having RTMed the “September 2011” update to Prism XE2 on friday and shipping regular weekly beta builds of Cooper and Prism as we prepare for Cooper RTM in November and more monthly updates for Prism in October and November (and possibly beyond), the Oxygene team has also started working on support for Windows 8, WinRT and Visual Studio 11, all of which Microsoft demoed ay //build/ last month. And that’s just Oxygene!
It’s still early stage, and i expect we’ll be having more detailed posts about WinRT and VS11 over the next few weeks and months as things progress. There are a lot of exciting things coming, from Metro over the new WinRT base runtime to language enhancements such as the “await” syntax.
But i wanted to sweeten the long weekend with a small teaser: in the screenshot below, you see a current internal Oxygene build, integrated in Visual Studio 11 running on Windows 8:

It’s still a bit early to make any promises for timelines, but our current work for integrating with VS11 is done in a sub-branch of our stable branch, so chances are this could be promoted and shipped in an update release (as “Highly Experimental”, of course), soon – possibly even in the upcoming October release.
(While the screenshot above is Oxygene, we’re also hard at work on RemObjects SDK and Data Abstract as well, of course)
