Hi everyone. We're pleased to announce the immediate availability of Hydra 6.2, the next version of our plugin framework for building modular applications that can mix Delphi, .NET, Java and Island code into a seamless single application experience.
Version 6.2 wraps together a whole bunch of fixes and enhancements, along with three major new features:
- Integration with Visual Studio 2019, the latest version of Microsoft's IDE. Hydra developers can now work in VS2019 for the .NET, Java and Island part of their apps, be it with Visual C#, Visual Basic or the Elements languages.
- Support for OpenJDK and Java 9+.Oracle has recently added new licensing requirements for use of their official Java distribution, requirements which do not affect the OpenJDK version. Hydra's support for OpenJDK makes sure that you can continue using Java as a free plugin option without the need for a paid Oracle Java license.
- Support for Free Pascal and Lazarus. That's right: the Delphi side of Hydra is now fully available for use with Free Pascal/Lazarus, as well. This includes building plugins and/or hosts with FPC and mixing Delphi and FPC in the same app.
As always, Hydra 6.2 is a free update for all users with an active Hydra or Suite subscription, and also available as a free 30-day trial.
A new license for Hydra is $499, and that includes support for all five development platforms (Delphi, .NET, Java, Island and FPC) and a full year of free updates; renewal for your exiting subscription is $249.
Enjoy!
